Frequently asked questions

Important topics and concerns clients often have. If you don't find what you're looking for, please don't hesitate to contact me directly. MY aim is to make your experience as transparent and supportive as possible.

If someone is new to therapy or interested in working with you, what's the very first step they should take?

Reach out and ask questions, book a free consultation to see if this experience is what you had in mind: ei.therapy@outlook.com or call 289-628-9060.

What can someone generally expect from a therapy session with you, and how do you help people work through their challenges?

You can generally expect that we will spend the first session talking about what you would like your time in therapy to help with and what you believe is important to zone in on. We talk about your "pain-points", your stressors, your worries, your hopes and... if you like, even your dreams! I help people work through their challenges by breaking down why something is a challenge, looking at what is within someone's control to change and what is not.

What kinds of situations or feelings do you most often help people with, and who usually benefits most from your approach?

I most often help people with feelings of: sadness, isolation, frustration, anger, grief, heartbreak, anxiousness, fear, confusion, and overwhelm in general. People who benefit the most from therapy are those that are open to the idea that they play a significant part in creating better circumstances for themselves.

Do you offer in-person sessions, or are they all virtual?

Currently, EI Therapy operates primarily virtually to provide convenient and accessible care across Ontario. In person office visits are an option in Mississauga, Ontario. Please contact me to discuss your specific needs.

How long does therapy typically last?

The duration of therapy varies greatly depending on individual needs and goals. Some clients find short-term therapy sufficient, while others prefer ongoing support. We will discuss this during our initial consultation and continuously assess your progress.

What are your fees, and do you offer direct billing?

Please contact us directly at [[email]] or [[phonenumber]] to discuss our current fee structure. As a Registered Psychotherapist, our services are often covered by extended health benefits. While we do not offer direct billing, we can provide receipts for you to submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement.

Is everything I share confidential?

Absolutely. Confidentiality is a cornerstone of our therapeutic relationship. All information shared during sessions is strictly confidential, with a few legal exceptions (e.g., risk of harm to self or others, child abuse). These limits will be thoroughly discussed during our first session.

How often do sessions take place?

Typically, sessions are scheduled once a week, especially at the beginning of therapy, to build momentum and address immediate concerns. However, this can be adjusted based on your needs, availability, and therapeutic goals. We can discuss frequency during your consultation.
